Student Representative Selected for Bluebonnet Luncheon

On Wednesday, December 10, 2008, fifteen students from grades 3-5 were interviewed by teachers on the Reading Committee who had the tough job of selecting Moye's student representative for the Texas Bluebonnet Luncheon held in Houston this spring. The students interviewed were first nominated by one or more members of the Moye faculty and staff. Each interviewee was asked five questions by the Reading Committee including a question about how he would feel about flying to Houston for the luncheon and a question about his favorite Bluebonnet book. None of the nominees have ever flown before and each of them expressed some excitement and nervousness at the possibility of flying for the first time. Among the interviewees' favorite Bluebonnet books were One Handed Catch, Crossing Bok Chitto, and How to Steal a Dog.
After all of the interviews were completed, the Reading Committee had a very hard decision to make. Each of the students nominated are deserving of this honor, but the committee selected 5th grader Gisel Fregoso as their choice for the Texas Bluebonnet Luncheon student representative from H.R. Moye. Not only will Gisel represent Moye Elementary and the El Paso ISD but she will also represent all of the students and schools in District 6.
Congratulations to each of the fifteen student nominees and to our winner, Gisel.
